Doodling over watercolor blobs is always a good plan if I am feeling stressed or worried about something. The think-as-you-go, free style technique is simply a nice way to give my brain a break. My brain was calling for a creative escape, so I painted some blobs in my journal. The following morning, I doodled all over the blobs. There was definitely no planning involved. Just blobs. Then, the pen.
This is my page before the doodles:
Happy Friday, my friends.

Hi Emily,
This is such a wonderful idea! Right now I’m learning a lot about art as meditation and it seems like this activity would be perfect for that! Both parts of it even, I can see how the making watercolor droplets and lines like you have would be really calming, and then I’ve seen lots of information about doodling as a meditative process. Thanks again for sharing this great idea. I’m going to try it with my kids and see what they think!

Thanks so much for this feedback, Chrissy! I love the idea of connecting this activity with meditation. I do find myself soothed and centered when I do it. I’m curious to hear how it went with your kids! If you find yourself with a free minute, I’d love to hear how they responded.
